THE ANDAO STORY

In Malagasy, ANDAO means "to lead" in a spirit of invitation. Horizons without limits, because this IBELIV creation in the bob and cloche hat style can take you on great adventures.

Since the beginning of the twentieth century, men and women have continued to appropriate (and rename) this hyper-practical little hat.

The bob is said to have been first worn in the 1900s. Originally made of felt or tweed, these hats were worn by Irish farmers and fishermen as protection against the rain. The word "bob" is the Anglo-American diminutive of Robert, referring to the light infantrymen of the Allied troops who introduced it to France during the First World War.

In the '30s, this round-capped, short-brimmed hat became the favorite accessory of coquettish women, who renamed it the "cloche hat". Perfect for sublimating the garçonne style now fashionable in this period of emancipation, it was mainly made from felt or wool. Details, such as a bow or ribbon, are sometimes added around the bell.

Renamed the "bob", it became increasingly popular in the 1960s and 1970s, particularly in the music scene and hippie culture. Since then, it has become a timeless fashion item that continues to be worn by men and women alike.
